Horrible Histories - Victorian Names. (by Gemma Kate)
Steampunks, why are we not ALL OVER THIS SHIT?

"Percy, you’re almost out of hot chocolate," Nico called from the kitchen.
Percy looked over towards the kitchen from where he was lounging on the couch, television remote in hand as he absent-mindedly flipped through channels. It was the time of year when there was really nothing on, except for cliché Christmas movies and boring re-runs. He thumbed the mute button and stood up to join Nico in the kitchen.
"How much is there?" he asked.
"None," Nico replied.
Percy smirked and wrapped his arms around Nico’s waist from behind, tugging his boyfriend close. “Well, we can fix that. Let’s go down to the coffee shop and I’ll buy you a hot chocolate.”
"That doesn’t really fix you not having any here."
"I’ll put it on the grocery list," Percy promised, pressing a kiss to the younger teen’s temple. He swayed with Nico for a moment before letting him go. "Come on. Get your jacket."
Nico put aside the empty tin of cocoa mix and moved to grab his jacket from where it was hung up in the hallway. Percy pulled his own coat on and took Nico’s hand, leading the son of Hades out of the apartment and down to the coffee shop down the street.
What is love?
Apparently only for white people.
Dude, you do realize this ad is Italian right? Those people are Italian, because it’s an Italian ad. Italian people are typically white. This ad is suppose to be about acceptance in THEIR country, why would they have models that don’t look like they’re from their country?
I’m gettin’ real tired of tumblr’s attitude. I’m probably going to get a lot of hate for this, but here we go.
Not everywhere is as mixed as North America. You go to places like Japan and it would be really weird to see a white person in their ad, it’s no different for places like Italy and Germany where people are mostly white. In North American we seem to have a decently even mix in a lot of areas so it’s a little off-putting when there’s only a certain race -generally all white people- depicted, where it’s completely normal and would appear really strange otherwise for other countries. Like you wouldn’t go to China and demand they show white people in their ads there, so why would you do the same for a country that has very few PoC compared to it’s population?
As the person above me said, why would they have models that don’t look like they’re from their country in their ads?
Seriously, I am Italian, and FUCK YOU. Our country has huge problems with homophobia, there isn’t even one single law to protect homosexuals. Most European countries have legalized marriage and adoption (or at least talked about it), but not Italy. The Catholic community does everything they can to block the law against homophobia. Last month, a 14 years-old killed himself because he was gay. You have no idea how much that kind of thing matters in Italy, all you can fucking do is whine about Tumblr about the fact that they are all white. Yes, in Italy the majority of the population is indeed white. Not the rest of the world is like fucking North America. So before you come whining about it on Tumblr, get your facts right.
I love it when reality slaps the fuck out of Tumblr.

THIS. IS. UNACCEPTABLE.
A friend of mine from Facebook received this today. It was taped to their locker. They took it to Guidance but the school is saying that they can’t do anything because it’s Anonymous. That’s bullshit. There are plenty of things that could be done about this. We are urging them to take it to the police at the moment.
This absolutely fucking disgusts me. I am beyond angry right now. The girl they are talking to is absolutely wonderful. She’s beautiful, funny, and a great person. She is a part of the Supernatural fandom. She is on tumblr. That makes her our family. So this letter makes me want to rip heads off. I can’t believe that someone would actually do this. You hear it on the news constantly. About kids killing themselves because of bullying and you think, “How could someone be that cruel? To push someone that far?” This is your answer. Because they think they can get away with it. THESE PEOPLE WILL NOT GET OFF EASY IF I HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH IT. I can’t imagine what my friend is thinking right now but I’ve seen the comments in her original post about this and after reading all the positive messages from fellow friends and acquaintances, I think they will be okay. This is not the case for other people, who have to deal with receiving things like this everyday. I can’t imagine the pain they must go through and it makes me extremely sad that they have to go through it at all.
the term “aro-ace” is especially lovely because it also sounds like “arrow ace.” are you aromantic and asexual or are you an incredibly skilled and deadly archer. surprise, you’re both
Let’s not forget the original arrow ace:
ARTEMIS JOKE I’VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR SO LONG
Alright, here’s something funny. These boys in my hall went outside in their undies to take some photos in the snow. Funny, right? They’re trying to get attention and it’s hilarious. Us ladies choose to do the same, we are wearing more clothing, and are doing the exact same poses. We are wearing as much clothing as is acceptable at the pool or the beach, at the gym, etc.
There is a serious double standard here— us girls have gotten responses like:
"What’s the point of being half naked?"
"*ahem* sluts *ahem*"
"What’s wrong with you females?"
Or worse, what my mother said. Her initial shock was apparently because she thought I was in my underwear, but when I told her I was in a swimsuit, she was suddenly happy I was having fun in college.
The idea here is that we are doing the same thing. When arguing this point with one of my hallmates, he said “But men’s bodies aren’t built the same, you don’t see girls getting pumped up over a topless guy, but how many guys do you think are gonna get all crazy over a topless girl?” Seriously? Really? Women don’t need to dress in order to avoid a reaction from men. You’re mad because you can’t control yourself? Men can pose in their undies in the snow without an issue because women aren’t going to go wild over it? Keep it in your pants, that’s your responsibility, not ours.
The double standards are killin’ me.
"Keep it in your pants, that’s your responsibility, not ours." Is literally one of the best quotes I’ve ever heard. Thank you.
